A Resistance to Rest

Today I super jazzed to be back on the airwaves after a break. In this episode we are digging into the topic of rest; why it can feel downright difficult to take a break, why rest is so important, and how to change our mindset when it comes to thinking about rest.

This episode is inspired by a series of newsletters I wrote about how I was struggling to take time to rest, and I was kinda blown away by the number of replies I received from these emails.. It seems that I wasn’t the only one who was resistant to resting.

WHAT IS REST?

Tim Kresler in an article for the New York Times wrote: “Idleness is not just a vacation, an indulgence, or a vice. It is as indispensable to the brain as vitamin D is to the body, and deprived of it we suffer a mental affliction as disfiguring as rickets.”

I am a life-long register of resting. I grew up in a family that valued hard work. We are doers. Resting has never felt like a natural thing to me.

This is where I will share all my handmade business tips and it’s also the home of my creative business education offerings. I’ll give a behind the scenes look into the Modern Maker Method, my signature business course for creatives, as well as my membership for makers - Compass the society of makers and dreamers, and some new workshops that are coming up in 2023. I’d love it if you join me on Instagram - shoot me a direct message, or comment that you listened to this episode!
